Deeply Rooted in Hyattsville

At Franklins, "local" isn't just a buzzword—it's our foundation.

As an independent, family-owned Hyattsville business, we believe that a rising tide lifts all boats. That's why we've made supporting our community an essential ingredient in everything we brew, cook, and create.

THE HISTORY

and the people behind Franklins.

In 1992, Mike & Debra Franklin purchased the former Hyattsville Hardware Co, a local institution located on a dying strip of Route 1.

The couple opened Franklins General Store & Deli to recapture the spirit of bustling community activity. The deli soon became a popular lunch spot and eventually outgrew its limited space.

In 2002, Franklins closed the deli portion of the store to open a 200-seat
brewpub and double the size of the general store.
As the years pass, Franklins continues to evolve with its transformed outdoor spaces,
ice cream shop, and award-winning brewery.

From our talented brewers crafting award-winning beers to our kitchen wizards creating culinary masterpieces, our friendly servers bringing the Franklins experience to your table, and everyone in between. This incredible team works together to keep Hyattsville's favorite gathering spot running smoothly.

They're not just staff; they're family.

Many have been with us for years, growing alongside Franklins and helping shape the vibrant community hub we've become.

The crew that makes Franklins more than just a brewpub—they're the heart and soul of everything we do.

Step Inside Hyattsville's Favorite Brewpub

When you walk through Franklins doors, you're not just entering a restaurant and store—you're stepping into a piece of Hyattsville history that's been thoughtfully reimagined.

Our century-old building has stories etched into every beam, brick, and floorboard, creating an atmosphere you simply can't manufacture.

What was once a neighborhood hardware store has been transformed into a warm, eclectic space where industrial charm meets contemporary comfort.

We've preserved the building's original character while adapting it to become Hyattsville's most
unique dining, shopping, and brewing destination.

supporting the arts

We are pleased to partner with the Hyattsville Community Arts Alliance (HCAA) to showcase the work of local artists throughout the restaurant.

Each exhibit runs for 3 months, and all of the art displayed is for sale through the HCAA. To purchase a piece, or to find out how to have your artwork displayed, please visit the
HCAA website.

Franklins is home to a first of its kind anywhere, kinetic light mural. Named “After Dark, Hyattsville” by artist Liz Manicatide, it is a permanent outdoor installation that uses color-changing LED lights to provide a captivating light show after dark.
